Dear fellow ADH students,
I am writing to you to tell you that I’m running for President of the
“AEADH”.
Since Ellen launched this process, a couple of weeks ago, I actively prepared
the Statutes of what will become the “AEADH” next Thursday. Indeed, I am
really keen to create this association. I think we all felt that the Master’s
students should be better informed and play a more active role in all of the
Academy’s other projects and activities. The association will best represent
the students’ interests at all levels of the Academy and help them become
more involved in all of the Academy’s matters. I am really enthusiastic about
all that we can do together!
If you elect me I will represent you at the official boards of the ADH, and
provide you with comprehensive information about the Academy’s decisions and
activities. I will also arrange meetings with previous students of the ADH and
of the CUDIH for us to have better ideas of what we could do after finishing
the master’s programme, and will try to set up informal meetings with persons
already well established in the field of humanitarian law. But what is more, I
will also create links with theatres or exhibitions in Geneva, in order to
organise events and activities which will strengthen our common student life.
In short, I want us to improve the exchange amongst students so that we make
the most of our time in Geneva!
And of course, the association should also think of making the start in Geneva
as smooth as possible for future ADH students. In this respect, for example, I
will compile informational guides regarding administrative tasks and
accommodation. But I will also be working closely with the administration of
the Academy in order to organise an “integration week-end” for the start of
the new year. And in order to get all students more involved, I also propose
setting up “tandems” which would enable each of the future student to be in
touch with one of the willing current student, so that both benefit from a
privileged and long-lasting relationship, which may not only be beneficial
during our studies but also in our professional lives.
I am convinced that my previous experience in running student societies will be
helpful, but the best thing I can offer you is my motivation!

Je vous envoie ce mail afin de vous informer de ma candidature au poste de
Présidente de l’Association des Etudiants de l’Académie de Droit
Humanitaire et de Droits Humains « A.E.A.D.H. »
Depuis qu’Ellen a amorcé son processus de création il y a déjà quelques
semaines, j’ai activement pris part à la rédaction des Statuts de ce qui
deviendra jeudi prochain l’ « A.E.A.D.H.. »
En effet, je suis particulièrement intéressée par la création de cette
association. Je pense que nous ressentons tous le besoin d’être mieux
informés et de jouer un plus grand rôle dans les divers projets et activités
de l’Académie. L’association tend à représenter au mieux les intérêts
des étudiants à tous les niveaux de l’Académie et à faciliter leur
implication dans tous ses domaines d’action. Je suis vraiment enthousiaste à
l’idée de tout ce que nous pouvons réaliser ensemble !
Si vous m’élisez, je serai en mesure de vous représenter aux Conseils
d’Administration et autres instances de l’ADH, et de vous fournir des
renseignements quant aux décisions et activités adoptées par l’Académie.
J’organiserai également des rencontres avec d’anciens étudiants de
l’ADH et du CUDIH afin de permettre une plus grande information sur les
possibilités qui nous seront ouvertes à la fin du programme, mais aussi des
réunions informelles avec des personnes déjà reconnues dans le domaine du
droit humanitaire et autres matières connexes. Par ailleurs, j’entreprendrai
d’établir des liens avec des théâtres ou autres établissements culturels
à Genève afin d’organiser des évènements ou activités contribuant à
l’amélioration de notre vie étudiante. En fait, je vise à renforcer les
échanges entre les étudiants afin que chacun profite au mieux de son séjour
à Genève !
Il conviendra également de faciliter autant que possible l’arrivée à
Genève des futurs étudiants de l’Académie. Dans cette perspective,
j’aimerais réaliser une brochure susceptible d’apporter des conseils en ce
qui concerne les procédures administratives et les logements à Genève. Il
sera également bien d’organiser, en collaboration avec l’administration de
l’Académie, un week-end d’intégration en début d’année académique.
Par ailleurs, afin d’impliquer chaque étudiant, je proposerai
l’organisation d’un système de « parrainage » selon lequel chaque nouvel
étudiant pourrait être mis en contact avec un étudiant actuel qui le
souhaite, de sorte que tous deux bénéficient d’une relation privilégiée,
utile tant durant leurs études qu’au cours de leur vie professionnelle.
Je suis convaincue que mon expérience passée de Secrétaire et de Responsable
Pédagogique dans les Comités d’autres associations me sera utile. Mais au
delà de cela, la meilleure chose que je peux vous offrir reste ma motivation
!

DECLARATION OF CANDIDATURE: KLAUS TALAVERANO for President
Till now there are only two very respectful candidature. So I decide also to participate and present an interesting one too, YOURS! Doesn’t matter who win. If you vote, you win.
You want to be represented in our Association; you have ideas and projects in the ADH? You, 07-08 and 08-09 class, know me, and you can count with me for that, for be a President.
I can tell you about me, how I cross the Atlantic to learn DIH and to go further. I can tell you about my experience in some Institutions in national level, for 10 years as a Chef of more than 100 men and women managing and dealing with administration, projects, etc. I can tell you about my desire to change the world, because I believe that IT”S POSSIBLE.
I can tell you too, about many reasons and ideas of what I can do for the Association, I can tell you about the work that some of us had done many Thursdays nights to prepare and discuss the statute, prepare this election and other things. There is a good team already that works very hard.
But today I prefer to tell you about…YOU!! Yes, you. You choose this Humanitarian Master and work for a better world, for others. Many of you cross the ocean or many countries as me to be here. You have different backgrounds, many experiences, ideas, as me. I’m sure you can do wonderful things. Imagine what we can do TOGETHER as an Association? If you trust in me as I trust in you, here there’s a great opportunity to make history, to do things that other ADH generations will remember: TOGETHER, everything IT’S POSSIBLE.
You count. You are our University, You are our raison d’être. You are my friends, and if we work TOGETHER, you are our Association, you are the President!!
Choose, vote and be a part of a beginning, of a dream, of a reality. Vote for your ideas, your projects, choose leadership and an overture to work as a team. I believe in you, so vote for…

I’ m going to work always as a team with every one, especially with the bilingual Student Affairs Officer, the External and Academic Affairs Officer, the Treasurer, and the Secretary. I’m going to respect and consider every opinion and promote every project. My chair will be a door open for all.
I propose to manage with leadership but also with my heart in every internal and external matter. (Representation of student’s interests and ideas before the ADH organs. Promote le dialogue and knowledge, cultural activities, sport and social. Act with transparency, etc).
I’m going to make an Association to students, by students, for students!! For that, I give my time, my place, my efforts and energy, and I ask for your compromise too (as a board member or just with your vote).
