Dear All,
The Committee had a good meeting on Thursday 13 Nov. We were happy to welcome a new anglophone member, Aleksey. Thanks for coming, Aleksey, and for your suggestions.
We got through drafting the rest of the 'non-Article 9-related' articles, except for the last two articles in the Statutes, being articles 14 and 15. (The Committee had decided that the other articles that were related to Article 9, which we would leave until next week, were Articles 10 and 12. As we know, Article 9 covers the organ of the Committee, whereas Article 10 covers the office of the President, and Article 12 covers both the right to vote in the General Assembly and the majority required for a General Assembly decision to be valid.) So we did all of the remaining ones (but didn't get to the last two, on modification of the Statutes (Article 14) and dissolution (Article 15)).
So in sum:
(a) Draft articles were adopted: 6, 7, 8, 11, 13. [*SEE UPDATE, BELOW.] We are experiencing minor technical difficulties with regard to posting the text of our adopted draft articles but expect to have that resolved by Saturday or Sunday and will post the draft language then.
So STAY TUNED for the language of 6, 7, 8, 11 and 13, AND, congratulations to all who contributed and worked hard on Thursday!
(b) Next week:
(i) We will start with proposals for language for Draft Articles 14 and 15 (which we hope will go fairly quickly).
(ii) Then we will continue and do Draft Articles 9, 10 and 12.
*UPDATE:
Upon looking more closely at what we adopted with reference to the original CUDIH articles, we actually adopted Draft Articles 6, 7, 8, 11, 11 bis, 13, and 13 bis. There is a bit of cleaning up to do (especially as we got to the end...).
